Can you eat keto at Chipotle?

Chipotle rose to prominence on the backs of their big-as-your-face burritos. In addition, Chipotle has always held food quality and sourcing paramount. That’s why it’s is exciting to know that there are plenty of amazing options for keto at Chipotle.

The Biggest Thing

If there’s one big takeaway, it’d be that tortillas are off-limits. That means no tacos, burritos, or chips! However, the burrito fillings are really what make the burrito shine, anyway.

General Tips for Keto at Chipotle

  • Burrito bowls and salads are your best friends.
  • Excess protein gets converted into glucose, which is not always good for ketosis. Unless you lift a lot of weights or have tons of muscle mass, don’t overdo the meat! (We know how hard that is!)
  • You’re going to end up eating SOME carbs at Chipotle. Every ingredient adds a little to your total carbohydrate count. That’s okay. Just be mindful and eat the amount you are comfortable with.
    • To promote ketosis, get sour cream on the side and mix in some MCT oil. Then add the mixture to your salad/bowl.  This will help you generate ketones that keep you in a fat-burning state when you consume carbs and protein. Check out our complete guide to MCT oil for more info.
  • Salsa contains a decent amount of carbs, so don’t overdo it!
  • Fajita veggies have carbs as well, so be mindful of portion sizes.
  • We like to load up on fatty dairy ingredients to make sure we get and stay full.

    • The big thing to remember with salads is that you should NOT get the vinaigrette dressing they offer. The salad dressing is loaded with sugar.
