Jelly is one of those foods you don’t realize you miss until you can’t have it. Like when you are craving a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or you’re out for breakfast and you’re thinking about going to town on some jam with buttered toast. You need keto jelly.

Go to any diner in America for breakfast and you’ll likely find a mountain of assorted spreadable jellies for your enjoyment. But these are certainly not low carb jelly options. That’s where keto jelly can be a godsend and open your door to so many possibilities.

Is sugar free jelly keto friendly?

You may have seen sugar free jelly products in stores but is sugar free jam keto friendly?

The answer is mixed and it depends on what sweeteners and thickeners are used. The short answer is that sugar free jelly does not necessarily mean low carb jelly. You have to pay attention to the nutrition labels and serving sizes.

What can you use keto jelly for?

That’s easy–  it’s perfect for your classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich. With the keto friendly jelly and keto jam brands on this list, all you need is a low carb peanut butter to go along with it. MaraNatha sells a 1g net carb per 2 tablespoon peanut butter (Sprouts/Whole Foods).

And, of course, jam and toast.

We know that butter is great for a low carb and keto diet. However, you also have to replace the actual toast. Luckily, we have plenty of low carb bread options for that in our extensive review of low carb bread brands you can buy online.

Now, on to the list [and don’t forget to scroll all the way down for our jam + bacon recipe!]

The 7 Best Keto Jelly List

#1 Good Good Sweet Jam with Stevia

[Check out our video review above of our #1 keto jelly / low carb jelly brand. We highlight some really great ways to use it!]

[Update: 2021] 3 New flavors, including Concord Grape Jelly! Check out our video review (plus Black Currant and Forest Fruits)

Our top pick is straight out of Iceland! And, if there’s one thing Scandinavian countries have down, it’s fruit preserves. You don’t have to worry about the flavor or texture– they know what they are doing.

Good Good utilizes simple ingredients: the fruit itself, water, keto-friendly sweeteners, some pectin to gel it all together and minimal preservatives.

Those low carb sweeteners are erythritol and stevia, both zero glycemic impact sweeteners. And because there are no unnecessary additives, these come in at a super-low 0.5-1.0g net carb per tablespoon!

Since the product is from Iceland, those of you in Europe might be more familiar with the Good Good brand (they sell a keto Nutella alternative w/ maltitol). Still, here in the U.S., their products are available online and in some brick and mortars.

Good Good’s Sweet Jam comes in 7 flavors.

#2 Nature’s Hollow Sugar-Free Jam Preserves

Nature’s Hollow is one of our favorite brands, as they specialize in low sugar, low carb products. Their fruit preserves are high quality and taste great.

Xylitol is the sweetener of choice here. It is a sugar alcohol with a low glycemic index (GI)– though not zero. With a GI of 13, it has about 1/4 the glycemic impact of sugar. Therefore in our calculations, we count 25% of the xylitol content as net carbs (*).

Nature’s Hollow sells a wide variety of jams:

#3 Polaner Sugar Free with Fiber Fruit Preserves

Polaner fruit preserves are very similar to Smucker’s in terms of ingredients. Where it differentiates is there is a bit more fiber, which is due to a higher concentration of fruit. That fiber actually brings the net carb count down to 2g net carbs per tablespoon!

We give the edge to Smucker’s simply because it is ubiquitous in restaurants, so it is a more familiar option for most. However, Polaner takes the edge for the jarred version at home as it is lower in net carbs.

Plus, it’s one of the few brands that makes a keto grape jelly.

#4 Walden Farms Fruit Spread

Walden Farms makes a ton of ultra-low carb products. If you are looking for a product that is 0g net carb, this is it.

The texture is a bit thick and Jello-like, so it’s more difficult to spread. But that’s what you compromise for zero net carbs. The flavor is there though, so if you can’t afford to add any net carbs to your diet, this is the ultra low carb jelly for you.

All of their 0g net carb flavors:

Are you looking for an easy sugar free strawberry jam recipe so you can use your own fruit? There are also some keto jelly options where you BYOF! That means that the only sugar is from the fruit and this qualifies as an easy low sugar jelly recipe.

#5 Xyloburst Jams

Much like Nature’s Hollow, the ingredients are simple and sweetened with xylitol. By the way, did you know that xylitol helps prevent cavities? Pretty neat.

Note that xylitol is the main ingredient in this sugar free jelly, so there is less fruit in this product (in case you’re looking for a more fruit-based texture).

The flavors are exactly the same as Nature’s Hollow and each flavor is around 4g net carbs per tablespoon.

#6 Smucker’s Sugar Free Jam

Those familiar packets that you can find at the restaurant table are likely to be from Smuckers. If you’re used to that flavor and texture, you’ll love the low carb jelly packets from Smuckers.

The downside is that Smuckers utilizes maltodextrin as a thickener and sweetener. Maltodextrin is not technically sugar, but has essentially the same effect on your blood sugar levels as glucose.

However, if you are sticking to packets, there are only 2g net carbs per packet. That’s why we recommend them in this form since they also allow for portion control. Plus, they are super portable and convenient!

If you’re looking to make a keto jelly sandwich with Smuckers, they also come in the jars. These weigh in at around 3g net carbs per tablespoon, so be sure to moderate your intake!

#7 Certo (Sure-Jell) Liquid Fruit Pectin

Hold up. What is pectin and is pectin keto friendly?

Pectin is found in fruit and is a soluble dietary fiber used as a gelling agent for making your own jams and jellies. Pectin itself is not an issue (it fact it’s a great prebiotic) but when you buy pectin powder, it is usually mixed with corn starch or other thickeners that increase the net carb count.

Certo and Ball (makers of the jars) sell liquid pectin and they do not contain the added starches that the dry mixes contain. They will have some carbohydrate content, but when your serving sizes are tablespoons, the resulting macros will be similar to the range of the pre-made products on this list.

You’ll have to use your own berries, but that allows you to control for size, quantity, taste, sweetness, etc.
