Thinking about keeping it keto at the movies can be depressing. Not because of what’s on screen, but when you think of all the popcorn you are choosing not to have!
And then you look around to see what you can eat and you realize a bunless hot dog is your best bet. Um, thanks, but no thanks!
Yes, many theaters are now offering a full service menu, but even those menus usually have very few keto movie snacks or meals. Not to worry though– there are lots of options for convenient keto movie snacks that you can stash in your pockets, bag, purse, backpack, fanny pack…you get the point.
Or, especially these days, you can cozy up on the couch and enjoy a flick with the fam while keeping it keto.
Check out our list of our favorite (and convenient) keto friendly movie snacks!

The 11+ Best Keto Movie Snacks
#1 Candy
Candy is king when it comes to movie snacks. Luckily there many low carb candy substitutes for our favorites.
ChocZero Peppermint Keto Bark –> Junior Mints
- ChocZero Bark (<–10% off with code CONVENIENTKETO) or also available on Amazon
- This stuff is seriously good. Chocolate, with a crunch and no sugar alcohols.
- The sweetener used is Monk Fruit Extract and they taste phenomenal. Great substitute for a Nestle Crunch bar!
This is by far one of our go to sweets and favorite keto chocolate brands!
Lily’s Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups –> Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
- Lily’s sells some great low carb chocolate products. Their peanut butter cups are sweetened with erythritol and stevia, which have glycemic indices of 0.
- Total net carb per peanut butter cup is only 1g net carb!
- The taste is spot on! You can’t go wrong with these
Lily’s Milk Chocolate-covered Peanuts –> Peanut M&M’s
- If you have a craving for Peanut M&M’s, these Lily’s milk chocolate covered peanuts will hit the spot.
- Like all of Lily’s chocolates, these are sweetened with erythritol and stevia.
- 4g net carbs per serving.
Lily’s Milk Chocolate-covered Caramels –> Twix/Rolo
- These will probably fulfill that Twix craving, but just without the crunch factor (so technically more like Rolo).
- 5g net carbs per serving.
Project 7 Sour Fruit Gummies –> Sour Patch Kids
- This is a great Sour Patch Kids gummy alternative!
- Sweetened with allulose, stevia, and 3g of cane sugar per bag.
- Only 6g net carbs per serving (the whole bag).
Project 7 Gummy Bears –> Welch’s Fruit Snacks
- Technically they are low carb gummy bears, but after tasting these, don’t be fooled by the shape. These are definitely a great swap for Welch’s Fruit Snacks.
- Only 6g net carbs per serving (the whole bag).
Sugar- Free Twizzlers (Strawberry) –> Twizzlers / Red Vines
- Like the classic, but sweetened with maltitol and sorbitol (so don’t over-do it!)
- Quick NOTE: Many brands selling sugar free candy uses maltitol, a sugar alcohol. Why? Well, it doesn’t count as sugar on the label, for one, but it also tastes very similar to sugar.
- However, it does not have a glycemic index of 0 like a lot of alternative sweeteners. It does have a relatively low glycemic impact, meaning it will raise your blood sugar levels less quickly than pure sugar, but when eating maltitol filled products you will still want to moderate your intake.
#2 Cookies
Catalina Crunch Sandwich Cookies –> Oreos
- Catalina Crunch’s Sandwich Cookies are an amazing Oreo copy cat that’s low carb.
- Plus these have no sugar alcohols and are vegan!
- 2.5g net carbs per cookie
HighKey Chocolate Chip Mini Cookies –> Famous Amos
- Highkey Mini Cookies are another sweet keto movie snack that is very easy to slip into the theater.
- Think keto Famous Amos! They’re crunchy, sweet and rich so they hit all the flavor train markers! The best part is they are only 4g net carb per WHOLE BAG (60g)!
- They even come in personal size bags so everyone can get their own!
- We share a full video review of these cookies on our favorite keto cookies blog post!
UPDATE!
Check out their Double Chocolate Mini Cookies (2g net carbs), which are basically like little mini low carb Oreo cookies. They are perfect mixed in with some low carb vanilla ice cream!
Also the snickerdoodle version of their mini cookie is awesome and it’s only 2g net carb for the WHOLE BAG! These taste like you turned a churro into a cookie! Cinnamony, sweet and crunchy!

#3 Chips
Quest is a big player in the low carb game but had to give them a mention on our list. If you haven’t tried quest’s tortilla chips they are definitely something to put on your must-try keto movie snack list. These are the closest thing we have found that taste anything like chips and are low carb (4g net carb per bag!)
- Nacho Cheese
- Nacho Doritos substitute
- 4g net carb per bag
- Ranch
- Cool Ranch Doritos substitute
- 4g net carb per bag
- Chili Lime
- 4g net carb per bag
#4 Hot Foods
This category is definitely more for home movie nights. Of course, you could be a bad ass and sneak these into the theater if you really wanted to. But, especially in 2020 and beyond, these will be MONEY for family movie nights.
Pizza
These little personal pizzas from Realgood Pizza Co are only 2g net carbs and packed with flavors. And this is all in a low carb cauliflower/almond flour crust.
They are perfect for movie night.
Hot Dogs
Take your favorite brand of hot dog and add keto friendly condiments like mustard and some G Hughes Sugar Free Ketchup.
But what about the bun? These Sola Hot Dog buns are only 6g net carbs per bun.
#5 Crackers
These Fat Snax Cheddar Almond Flour Crackers are a great substitute for Cheez-Its!
- Only 2g net carbs per serving.
- Great tasting and simple ingredients.
Higher carb counts, but still lower glycemic options…
- Simple Mills Cheddar Crackers
- From the Ground Up Cauliflower Crackers
- Ground up makes it even easier for you by selling their crackers in individually portioned bags!

Pro-Tip: Buy the nacho cheese at the theater and dunk the crackers in!
#6 Bars
- Epic Meat Bar – For something super savory, these are great at only 1g net carb per bar. These bars should definitely hit on any hot dog cravings you might have.
- These are one of our favorite meat bars!
- Sola Granola Bar – For something nice and sweet, Sola bars are top-notch and hit the sweet tooth craving!
- Our full review on our top choices for keto-friendly bars can be found here!
#7 Cheese Whisps
Cheese Whisps are our #1 substitute for popcorn. These are crunchy, salty and savory– which are the best elements of movie popcorn.
These are basically just cheese so there is no carbohydrate content to worry about. We love the variety pack that lets you sample Parmesan, Cheddar and Pepper Jack.
#8 Pork Rinds
Pork rinds give you a nice crunch and saltiness that you might miss from popcorn and nachos. That being said these are probably the easiest and tastiest keto snack to turn into nachos, even more so than crackers! Just buy the nacho dip at the concession and you’re good to go!
Our full review on pork rinds is available here.
#9 Zevia
Zevia is our go-to diet soda on keto. Yes, Diet Coke exists, but many people are trying to avoid the aspartame used to sweeten Coca-Cola products.
Zevia has a variety of flavors and most of them are delicious!
Plus, Zevia is sweetened with 100% Stevia (hence the name). Don’t worry, they use high-quality stevia that isn’t bitter.
You can easily sneak these into a movie theater making it one of our favorite keto movie snacks!
By the way, our top 5 flavors are Strawberry, Black Cherry, Grape, Orange and Cream Soda!
#10 Hapi Water
Hapi Water makes 4 awesome flavors: Fruit Punch, Grape, Apple and Strawberry Kiwi. Our favorite flavor is the fruit punch.
These remind us of a keto friendly Capri Sun, but without the carbs and sugar! They’re delicious and perfect drink alternatives for your kids (or you) at the movies.
In addition, they’re sweetened completely with erythritol. (Curious about sugar substitutes on keto? Check out our detailed post!)
#11 Keto Ice Cream
Most keto ice cream brands require the ice cream to sit out for 20-30 minutes to get the perfect creamy texture so why not stash that into your purse, pocket or bag? I mean we’re just saying – those little pints are perfect snacks for the movies 😀
Rebel is the our favorite low carb ice cream brand on the market.
Our favorite flavors:

No skinny popcorn?
Hi Tina,
Unfortunately, we have not found any low carb popcorn. It’s tough to emulate that texture and taste. Our recommendation is the Peeled Snacks Butter & Sea Salt Puffs, which obviously isn’t the same but you get to munch on something buttery. Hope that helps!
