Diet-friendly tortillas open you up to a world of foods like tortilla chips, tacos, quesadillas– you name it. And you’ve probably come across low carb tortillas before, but this brand is different. That’s because they are keto corn tortillas, made from actual corn. Yes, they taste and smell like corn, and also happen to be low carb corn tortillas!
As you can guess, the main ingredient in these tortillas is corn.
You might ask: Do corn tortillas have carbs? They do, but are corn tortillas low carb? They aren’t inherently. So how do we get keto corn tortillas?
The secret ingredient is nopal aka cactus! This uniquely Mexican ingredient is highly fibrous, which means that a tablespoon of cactus flour contains only 1g net carb. When blended in with the corn flour, this makes a lower carb base for tortillas. Plus, the flavors mix very well and you can’t taste the cactus at all!
So what brand sells these ketogenic corn tortillas?
Susalia Keto Corn Tortillas
Susalia is a Mexican brand that sells these low carb corn tortillas made with nopal. They are super simple, made of white corn, nopal, chicory root(inulin) and some salt.
They sell mainly in Mexico at this time, but you can order them in the US from Amazon.
And they taste amazing. They taste like corn tortillas that you’re familiar with just with a slightly less corn taste.
The average-sized corn tortillas contain about 8g net carb and the low carb corn tortillas contain about 4g net carbs per tortilla – making these low carb corn tortillas on par with other low carb tortillas out there.
`
Keto Corn Tostadas
The brand also sells keto tostadas, which are super convenient for, of course, tostadas. But we also use them as an easy way to make low carb chilaquiles or huevos rancheros. They are ever-so-slightly thinner than the tortillas and that makes them a bit crispier too!
These also happen to be super low carb at only 2g net carb per tostada! Normal tostadas contain about 20g net carbs per tostada!
One of the best parts is Susalia’s tostadas can easily be broken off into pieces and used as keto corn chips! It’s crazy how much they really taste like the corn tortilla chips from your pre-keto days!
The taste is similar to baked Tostitos!
Keto Corn Tortilla Chips
They also sell bags of baked keto corn tortilla chips which are 2.5g net carb per 10 chips. Definitely the most traditional tasting low carb tortilla chips on the market! No weird protein taste, and have the traditional corn flavor with a great crunch! We’ve even brought them to Mexican restaurants with us!
Recently made keto nachos!
Keto Corn Cracker
They also sell a corn cracker and it’s exactly what you think…a cracker. We eat these with jelly, cheese, really anything you’d eat a normal cracker with! They are delicious, and are only .6g net per cracker (big rectangular cracker!).
Summary
Susalia makes a great set of corn and nopal based tortilla products that can easily fit into any low carb or ketogenic lifestyle. They are versatile and there is really no catch other than that they do still have some carbs (albeit significantly lower amounts).
After discovering these, we have used them in many, many recipes. And they are now our new favorite and go-to low carb tortillas! Even just having some chips and salsa or guacamole is great!
We’ve even snuck them into Mexican restaurants! 😀
By the way, check out some other low carb tortilla chip options!

I thought that on Keto you had to completely omit wheat, rice, corn and oats? That’s what Dr. Ken Berry says. He has a medical practice and a YouTube channel where he talks about Keto and the things he said were necessary for Keto were to cut out all grains (rice, corn, wheat and oats), to change up your oils (no vegetable, corn, safflower, sunflower, etc only avocado, coconut, mct and limited olive) and no sugar. Have you experienced any ketosis while eating these?
Hi Gina,
I think in general, his advice is sound advice. The thing is, when you are in a position of influence and you say something like “You can eat corn, but only in this instance,” people will likely just latch onto the first part and think they can just go out and eat a bunch of corn and popcorn. But the key here is quantity.
If you eat a tablespoon of butter, most people agree that you won’t inhibit ketosis. If you had that same butter and ate exactly one kernel of corn, it’s going to be negligible and have no measurable effect. My point is that quantity matters and in these tortillas, the amount of corn is drastically reduced by the use of the cactus powder.
These Susalia corn tortilas are quite possibly the only exception to the rule. So, 99.9% of the time, his advice works. But, in this case, each tortilla contains corn but totals only 4g net carbs. For comparison, this is about the same amount of net carbs in one whole avocado.
And, to answer your question, yes, we have remained in ketosis while eating these Susalia products. Like anything you eat, make sure it fits into your nutrient goals for the day and how many net carbs you are aiming to consume. For example, a tortilla or two might be fine, but if you ate a stack of 10 tortillas, that’d be a different story.
Thank you so much. I have an HEB across from the street. I’m going there tomorrow. The total carbs of one is even lower than some you make using almond flour or coconut flour. Those also taste 😬
Awesome! Jealous! We haven’t found any in the Austin HEBs yet, but pick some up any time we are in San Antonio.
I’m so glad you wrote a good review about Susalia. I love their products and I’ve managed to stay in ketosis with eating 2 tortillas a day. I love, love, love, them! I grew up in a very traditional Mexican/Hispanic household where tortillas, rice, and beans were a part of a everyday meal. As an adult, this way or eating has been nothing but problems…weight gain, fluid retention…borderline DM. Keto has done some amazing things for me. Susalia makes my everyday life so much easier. Again, thanks for the positive reviews!
Hey Brandy!
Yes, absolutely! We have been able to remain in ketosis on their products as well. We love that the corn is non-GMO and nixtamalized to remove any anti-nutrients in the corn and the nopal and inulin add a ton of fiber to help lower the overall blood glucose impact. Really great stuff!
By the way, if you do like beans, try black soybeans from Eden Organic. They are lower carb and if you cook and cool the beans, it adds to the resistant starch content (prebiotic effect).
Cheers!

Hi there! I am posting this April 24th, so almost a year later. Not sure if the ingredients have changed but I just purchased a bag of chips. for a serving size of 12 grams ( about 5 chips, I weighed and each chip is about 2.4 g), the Carbs listed is 8 and fiber is 2. I read that foods from Mexico already subtract the fiber from the carb count, this makes them 8 net carbs for 6 chips, not very Keto. I am wondering if anyone can confirm this? I was soooo bummed because I heard these were like the KETO dream in a tortilla chip, now thinking too good to be true?
I’m curious about changes to the nutritional label on the tortillas. I have read where many people say that they are now 8 carbs per tortilla, and that in Mexico they automatically subtract fiber from the carbs, so that the carbs listed are actually the net carbs. I was wanting to order these, but if they have increased in carbs that drastically, it is not worth it to me. Can you shed any light on this? Thank you.
Hello, I did not notice when you did the review but it looks as if they changed the label or more for the tortillas. As it looks like they may be 8 net carbs per tortilla now.
In San Antonio Texas most of the stores that have and had this product “Called Susalia” are discontinuing the product and some of them already closed the door for Susalia product because of the recall that was found in the product. Also because of the poor management, expired product, damage product found in the displays in the store by workers and customers. There was a lot complaints about these issues that still haven’t been resolve by the distributor company in Texas. Groceries managers from these stores were extremely disappointed for the damages and embarrassment that caused the RECALL to the store and customers.
These are some of the RECALL items;
Tostada natural
Tostada Chia
Churrinopal 200gr
Churrinopal 51gr
Enchiladas 200gr
Enchiladas 51gr
Tortilla
Crackers
Totopos
And some more.
Hi! This post is awesome! Can you please tell me how you figured out the net carb per tostada for the tostadas?
Thank you!

Hello. Many people see the Net Carb information or stamped on nutrition labels confusing because most people focus on the “Daily Value” grams “per serving” or “Serving Size.” Thank you.
