There are a lot of cake alternatives out there: Gluten-free, flourless, vegan, you name it. We’ve all been there: They all taste a little bit like coconut, are too dense or have a weird, grainy texture. And we aren’t even talking about low carb keto chocolate cake yet!
The Ultimate Sin-Free Keto Chocolate Cake Treat
Poparuba Cake Bites suffer from none of the aforementioned issues, even though they hit all the healthy checkmarks like gluten-free, low carb and no sugar added. These low carb chocolate cake bites (think of them basically as cake pops) have amazing flavor and the texture is spot-on. The different flavors range from 2g-4g net carbs per bite, so you can easily say yes to dessert again.
Texture is key
When you talk about cake alternatives, the texture is paramount. They can be too dense or too dry or too flaky. Poparuba really nailed the texture on their cake bites. You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who could figure out what these are made of. I’ll ruin it for you– garbanzo beans and pumpkin (among other things). I would have never guessed that in a million years if I hadn’t read the nutrition facts. Either way, the texture is perfect.
Poparuba Keto Chocolate Cake Bite Flavors
- Chocolate (4g net carb)
- Plain od’ chocolate cake (and ain’t nothin’ wrong with that)
- Mint (4g net carb)
- Really minty and a nice substitute for your Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies
- Lemon (2g net carb) — the only non-chocolate flavor.
- If you like lemon pastries, you will absolutely love this. You can probably imagine what it tastes like and it tastes just like that.
- Raspberry (4g net carb)
- This tastes just like a chocolate cake with some raspberry glaze.
- Sea Salt Caramel (4g net carb)
- Our favorite great balance of the sweetness with the sea salt.
Pro-Tip: This stuff goes really well with some butter coffee for breakfast. Check out the review of our favorite butter coffees.

Final Verdict
These cake bites are the closest thing you'll get to real cake. If you think of them as little cake pops, you won't finish off a whole box in one sitting (or maybe you will, though you don't have to feel guilty if that happens).

Thanks for the great review. Poparuba Cake Bites are now available on line through our website or on Amazon. Enjoy!
I think your carb count for garbanzo bean (aka chickpea) flour is a bit off. I used to use it all the time in baking until I read this:
Is chickpea flour low carb?
Chickpea flour is one of those wonderous miracle flours. High in protein (6 grams per 1/4 cup serving) and fiber (5 grams per 1/4 cup serving), and relatively low in carbohydrates (18 grams per 1/4 cup serving, only 13 of which are effective, after you subtract the fiber), it’s an ideal product for anyone avoiding gluten or refined carbohydrates.
Not as healthy as you would like it to be.
Hi Patty,
These cake bites were recently reformulated to use a lot more garbanzo bean flour. They are now around 4g net carbs per cake bite rather than 1-2g. Thanks for catching that! We’ll get the carb counts updated.
