Are there truly low carb crackers to buy? Yes, they exist!
Sometimes you just miss that crunch and mindless munching.
Or you just need a vessel for your favorite dip (Have you tried eating hummus by the spoon?).
You don’t have to skip the dip with these low carb and keto friendly crackers. And, no, you won’t destroy your diet in the process. Instead, you’ll open up your world to things like hummus, spinach dip, queso and more.
Let’s get crackin’.
First, Beware the Imposter Low Carb Crackers
First things first: not all crackers are created equal.
For example, you may have seen Blue Diamond Almonds Nut-Thins at the grocery store (We see them everywhere). They have an appealing name that makes you assume that they are made mainly from almond flour (low GI).
In reality, Nut-Thins weigh in at 23g net carbs per serving, with the high GI ingredients of rice flour and potato starch as two of the top three ingredients.
We need to dig a little deeper.
The Criteria
Here’s what we are trying to focus on when looking for low carb and keto friendly crackers:
- Lower net carbs: Total Carbohydrates minus Dietary Fiber and Sugar Alcohols
- Low glycemic index/load ingredients that are high up on the list of ingredients.
Ingredients on a nutrition label are listed in descending order by quantity. So, the first ingredient listed comprises most of the product.
If all things are equal, the type of flour, say almond flour (low glycemic) vs. rice flour (high glycemic) plays a role in your body’s digestion of that food. We are looking for low GI ingredients like almond, flax and coconut flour as the main ingredients.
All-in-all, we are looking for lower net carb cracker options with lower glycemic indices. We’ve broken it down for you in our following list of low carb crackers to buy!

Our Top 8 Low Carb Crackers to Buy
#1 Jilz Crackerz (Discontinued)
For those keto and low carb people who are on the stricter side of counting carbs, Jilz Crackerz should definitely be on your radar.
We are always a little skeptical when people in reviews talk about how some of the low carb products taste just like their fully loaded carb counterparts. But in reality, those products taste like cardboard and the reviewers haven’t had a real carbohydrate in years.
But with Jilz Crackers, you actually get a great flavor and crunch.
These crackers have more of the consistency and texture of sesame seed crackers. They are not overly seedy or chewy (especially compared to Flackers, below). Basically, if you’ve ever had a typical Asian sesame seed cracker, these will taste very familiar.
These are great alternatives for your cheese and cracker nights, or chips and guac.
Jilz Crackerz come in three different flavors:
All of the flavors are delicious. And the BEST part is there are only 5g net carb per 10 crackerz (0.5g net carb per cracker), which easily beats Simple Mills on a per-cracker carb count.
#2 Liberated Cheddar Crackers
These are by far the BEST TASTING out of the bunch that being said their less available nationwide than the others we mentioned and they are a very small company. BUT WE LOVE THEM!
Liberated Cheddar Crackers are made up of only 4 ingredients: Almond Flour, Cheddar Cheese, Organic Eggs, and Sea Salt. THAT’S IT! Coming in at 2g net carb per 28g!
And they are a perfect match for keto diets because they contain a bunch of fat at 14g per serving. As a result, a handful of these can keep you full for hours.
The best part about these low carb cheese crackers is they have the crunchy, cheddary goodness that reminds you of your childhood Cheez-It crackers.
It’s time to put all your baking pans and almond flour away, Keto Nation! These are the real deal!
All the Liberated cracker varieties (check out our in-depth video review, above!):
- Cheddar Crackers – 2g net carbs per serving 28g
- Herb Crackers – 1g net carb per serving 28g
- Fiesta Chips – 3g net carbs per serving 28g
#3 Julian Bakery Primal Thin Crackers
These Primal Thin Crackers use a main ingredient of parmesan cheese! Since cheese is very low carb, that keeps these crackers’ carb content down.
With that said, strangely enough, the cheese flavor doesn’t really come through. So, we think of these more as seed crackers rather than cheese or cheddar crackers.
This is great news for dipping though, making queso, guacamole and tuna salad your potential new best friends.
In addition to the aforementioned cheese, the rest is made up of seed blend and some tapioca starch sprinkled in for a little bit of crunchiness. Again, the crackers don’t have an overpowering flavor on their own but that’s what you want when you are looking for a delicious dipping cracker!
The thins come in at only 3g net carbs per 6 crackers (0.5g net carbs per cracker)!
Bonus: These are 100% USDA Organic, which is unique out of the bunch!
#4 Flackers Organic Flax Seed Crackers
As big keto fans, we had to throw these Flackers Flax Seed Crackers on the list because they are seriously low carb. We’re talking as low as 1g net carb per 6 crackers or 0.17g net carbs per cracker!
These “flackers” are made from flax seed, which makes them very chewy and likely to stick to your teeth. But, if you can’t spare any carbs, these were made for you.
The texture is chewier because they use whole seeds, meaning they are minimally-processed compared to flour. Also, flax seeds are a great source of omega-3’s to balance out your fatty acid ratios (3:6).
Six Flavors:
- Sea Salt – 1g net carb per 6 crackers
- Rosemary – 1g net carb per 6 crackers
- Dill – 1g net carb per 6 crackers
- Tomato Basil – 3g net carb per 6 crackers
- Savory – 3g net carb per 6 crackers
- Cinnamon and Currant – 6g net carb per 8 crackers
Pro-Tip: We like these with strong flavors like tuna or egg salad because the texture and flavors of the crackers don’t stand out as much.
#5 Fiber Gourmet Thinables (Discontinued)
Fiber Gourmet Thinables are a diet food, through and through. These take the route of high fiber, which can be great for keep net carb counts in check.
But, since they are a “diet” food, Thinables are low fat. And since cheese contains a good amount of fat, that means there’s just not as much cheese, and therefore the flavor is somewhat lacking. However, if you need more flavor, just find something to dip them in and you’re good!
Moreover, they use wheat and palm oil, so it’s definitely not marketed to the natural, whole foods market like some of the other products on this list. However, this allows the crackers to have a nice crunchy crispiness.
In the end, they do the job and you can eat a ton of them. That’s because the net carb count is really low at 7g net carbs per 30 crackers (or 0.23g net carbs per cracker).
#6 Skinny Crisps – Gluten Free Crackers
Skinny Crisps are a great addition to the low carb crackers family! All of their low carb crackers hit the mark for about every category including:
- Naturally gluten-free
- Vegan
- Kosher
- Wheat free
- Dairy free
- Rice free
- Casein free
- Non-GMO
- No hydrogenated oils
The main ingredients are almonds, flax seed, and chickpea flour— all low glycemic ingredients.
They have many flavors! Our favorite flavors are Say Cheese and Plain Jane for dipping and enjoying on their own. These two flavors come in at around .75g net carb per cracker, which is lower than most keto friendly crackers on the market!
From a taste perspective, they have a slight flax taste, along with a wheat-like texture and just a slight hint of sweetness. They are really well-balanced!
#7 Simple Mills Almond Flour Crackers
Simple Mills crackers seem to be everywhere at the moment, so we had to put them on this list. We’ve seen them at all the typical natural grocers as well as Costco!
The Simple Mills brand markets to the Paleo crowd. So the nuts and seeds and cheese used are wholly expected. These simple ingredients combine together to pack in the flavor and fat, making the cheddar crackers very satiating.
Another positive is that these crackers are made out of nut flour (flax seeds, almonds, sunflower seeds) so they are also low glycemic. That makes the 1g net carb per cracker count a little easier to digest.
Are Simple Mills crackers keto friendly?
While the nut flour blend is the main ingredient, these low carb cheese crackers also are made up of a decent amount of tapioca starch. That makes it a bit less keto friendly given the high glycemic index and total carb count of tapioca.
However, we generally have no problem staying in ketosis while eating a moderate amount of these low carb crackers. The operative word here is “moderate”– Don’t go overboard!
They come in a nice variety of other flavors including:
Rosemary | Sun-Dried Tomato & Basil | Sea Salt | Cracked Black Pepper | Smoky BBQ
[DISCONTINUED] Cali’flour Cauliflower Thins
[UPDATE 2019: Cali’flour no longer sells these crackers, however you can still buy Frozen Pizza, Pizza Crusts and Flatbreads from Cali’Flour. You can use code CONVENIENTKETO for 10% off as well.
Pro-Tip: Craving some Zero Carb goodness? Check out our list of absolutely NO CARB Snacks.
Cali’flour makes high-quality cauliflower-based foods and we were excited to find out that they came out with some new Cauliflower Thins!
The best news? These guys come in at 0g net carbs per 6 cracker serving!
How is that even possible? Let’s take a look at the ingredients:
ALMOND, EGG WHITES, CAULIFLOWER, EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL, LEAVENING, CHIA SEEDS, SEA SALT, RED LENTIL FLOUR, NATURAL ROSEMARY EXTRACT
The top ingredients have minimal to negligible net carbohydrates (mostly fiber). However, you can round down when summing up the nutrition facts in the U.S., so there are definitely SOME carbs in these crackers. Read: 0g does not necessarily mean no carbs.
Almond, cauliflower, chia seeds and red lentil flour are made up, in some part, of carbohydrates. But the important thing is that regardless, the crackers are extremely low in carbohydrates.
But how do they taste?
Very plain, meaning they are great as dipping crackers. Since cauliflower isn’t the main ingredient, the cauliflower flavor is not too strong either. There is no sweetness at all and the salt is barely detectable. Basically, probably by design, these aren’t something we’d snack on by themselves.
The leavening and red lentil flour make these crackers a tad thicker, but they remind us of the texture of those thin Italian breadsticks that sit on tables at restaurants.
Again, these Cali’flour crackers don’t get in the way at all so dipping in things like queso, spinach artichoke dip are perfect here. Especially for 0g net carb, these are an absolute no-brainer choice for dipping crackers.
In addition to the Classic flavor, there is an Italian Herb flavor. This truly is Italian Herb, and they just mix in some classic Italian spices. The flavor isn’t too overwhelming here. We think you use these as a crouton replacement in salads and also as a breadcrumb alternative in recipes.

[…] These Simple Mills Crackers are very flavorful on their own. Honestly, while you could use these as a cracker substitute on almost anything, we love the Farmhouse Cheddar flavor, which is basically the low glycemic, paleo version of Cheez-Its. Watch out for the Julian Bakery crackers!!! They have been caught with inaccurate nutrition facts on their products. I wouldn’t trust the carb count!
Thanks! We’ve heard a lot of the same. Tough to trust them, but if you are looking for something without almond flour (due to higher PUFA counts), it may be worth it to try while being sure to test your blood glucose response.
Jilz and the Thinables are also discontinued.
Updated– thanks for the heads up!
