Whether it’s hot or cold outside, it’s always a good time to grill. Really, there’s never a bad time to put meat and heat together.
We’ve found that it can be extremely tempting to fall off the keto wagon at barbecues and other family gatherings. Luckily we’ve found some great keto buns that allow you to partake in the glory of hot dogs and low carb buns for burgers!
Keto Buns, Low Carb Buns & Bread
Like our similar list of the best low carb bread that you can buy, we are focusing on those buns and rolls that are low carb and keto-friendly that you can also buy online. We’re also looking for:
- Low net carbs: Calculated by subtracting the sugar alcohols and dietary fiber from total carbs.
- The low carb buns have to be edible and the texture should hold together your hot dog and burger concoctions.

#1 Sola Low Carb Hamburger Buns
Sola already makes the softest keto bread we’ve ever had. Now, they’ve improved upon their product line by adding keto buns for burgers! And thankfully, they spent a lot of time making sure it turned out perfectly.
Unlike the other low carb buns on this list, Sola Hamburger Buns are rich and flavorful. We’d actually like to think of them as gourmet buns. That means the tops of the buns are glossy, similar to a buttery brioche bun! And, that would make sense given they are packed with 8g of fat. That also means they taste great on their own!
The texture is also amazing. You get a soft, chewy texture that holds together oh-so well. Really, it’s indistinguishable from a normal hot dog or hamburger bun. For those of you who are familiar, they have a similar texture to Sola’s sandwich bread. As you can see in our video review, above, they also toast and grill up to perfection.
All in all, this product will take your keto bun game to the next level. Yes, they call them low carb hamburger buns but we’ve also had great luck making grilled cheese sandwiches and using them as low carb hot dog buns as well!
The Sola keto hamburger buns come in at 6g net carbs per bun, which is about 6 times fewer carbs than the equivalent normal bun. To us, these are hands down the best keto buns for sale on the market.
#2 Smart Buns
These are the holy grail of keto buns. Not only are they soft and fluffy, they also come in at exactly ZERO grams net carbs per serving.
So, are they indistinguishable from real buns?
Not necessarily. You can definitely tell they are not your typical buns, but they do come close. The texture is just a little more crumbly due to the lack of gluten. Also, the buns consist primarily of dietary fiber. Their proprietary blend really gives these a nice texture that is almost like the real thing.
Pro-Tip: We actually like to make grilled cheese sandwiches with these because they grill up very nicely.
Ingredients: Purified Water, Proprietary NON-GMO Fiber Blend (Oat Fiber, Rice Fiber, Corn Fiber, Flax Meal) Eggs, Erythritol, Whey Protein Isolate, Sunflower Oil, Cellulose Gum, Natural Flavor, Sesame Seed, (Topping) Spices, Salt
#3 ThinSlim Foods Zero Carb Buns
These Thin Slim Buns have Zero Grams Net Carb Per Bun!
The taste and texture of the Thin Slims are a little on the rough side. And because wheat protein is the main ingredient, you get a little bit of a “protein bar” aftertaste.
That being said, because of the addition of gluten, they do hold together pretty well. We suggest toasting these up for the best experience.
Another bonus is that in addition to the low carb burger buns (Hamburger Buns), these come in Hot Dog Buns as well.
Ingredients: Wheat Protein Isolate, Vital Wheat Gluten, Oat Fiber, Modified Water Starch, Flax Seed Meal, Olive Oil, Chicory Root, Yeast, Salt, Apple Cider Vinegar
#4 Great Low Carb Bread Company Buns
The Great Low Carb Bread Company makes a lot of bread products that are keto-friendly. However, the 2g net carbs per bun is slightly higher than the other low carb bun options on the list.
The taste is pretty good, but the texture can be a little tough because these are almond flour hamburger buns. The keto almond buns and flax seed make the buns fattier, so you get more richness.
Plus, these stay together really well. And there’s no coconut flour, so you don’t get any coconut taste coming through.
Ingredients: Water, Vital Wheat Gluten, Almond Flour, Flax Seed Meal, Oat Fiber, Wheat Protein Isolate, Modified Wheat Starch, Soy Bean Oil, Yeast, Calcium Propionate, Vinegar, Stevia
Now, here’s an option that’s not your typical hamburger bun, but you can absolutely use it as a bun.
#5 Outer Aisle Gourmet’s Cauliflower Sandwich Thins
The secret is that these Cauliflower Sandwich Thins grill up very well. In fact, they turn into almost a hash type of texture that’s amazing.
Pro-Tip: Use avocado oil to grill as avocado oil infuses a rich flavor into the thins.
This brand makes their sandwich thins such that the cauliflower flavor is not overwhelmingly strong (unless you are really sensitive to the taste of cauliflower). It’s a solid, low carb option that complements food like hamburgers really well. This is a really nice grain, nut and seed-free low carb burger bun option.
