Final Verdict
Picnik is spreading the butter coffee love nationwide in the US. There's really nothing to complain about here. If you don't want to have to make your butter coffee each and every morning, this is a great option for you-- like when you're running late or don't feel like busting out all the tools and ingredients needed to make this healthy, fatty breakfast drink.
Butter + Coffee = Butter Coffee
Butter coffee is all the rage these days, and deservedly so. Low sugar, high-fat coffee is less likely to give you the jitters and crash and burn of your plain ol’ cuppa Joe. Bulletproof started the craze with their butter + MCT oil + coffee lovechild and now everyone and their mothers are making some variation of Bulletproof coffee for breakfast.
Picnik aims to make butter coffee more accessible and convenient, which is why they are now mailing you coffee! A local company here in Austin that started selling out of a food truck, Picnik now slings their bottled goodness online. For brick and mortar, Picnik is in Whole Foods and is expanding their way into other health food markets in the US.
The Price is Right
As of this writing, each bottle of butter coffee averages a tick over $4.50. If you have ever made butter coffee yourself, you know that’s actually a pretty fair price considering how much grass-fed butter and MCT oil cost. At the end of the day, it’s not much more than a latte at a coffee shop and it’s so much better for you.
The Taste Test
You might be thinking. “I’ve left some Bulletproof coffee out and it starts looking pretty gross and fatty after a while.” Well, I’m glad to report that there is no coagulated texture or strange taste associated with Picnik’s Butter Coffee, even though it’s chilled. You can pour the bottle into a mug and microwave it if you like it hot (or, you know, if it’s winter or something). But, if you’re already a fan of iced lattes, this is going to be right up your alley.
Bonus
Picnik’s butter coffee contains MCT oil, which kick-starts your keto diet but helping to generate ketones. There are a ton of great benefits to MCT oil, including being a great source of energy for the brain and also stoking your metabolism. For more info, check out our complete guide to MCT oils!
Important Note:
Picnik has several flavors available, but only the Cappuccino flavor has no added sugar, so it is the only flavor we can recommend.
