Judging by the lines out the door at local brunch spots on the weekends, I’d be hard-pressed not to think that breakfast is people’s favorite meal of the day. And that some of the favorite breakfast foods are pancakes and waffles.

Unfortunately, when you are on a keto or low carb diet, just reading those two words on a menu or food list brings you to shame!  Luckily, the guilt can be thrown aside because super easy keto pancakes (and keto waffles) exist!

So put away the eggs, bacon, and cheese for a day and enjoy the sweetness you’ve been sorely missing!

But first! Some BONUS ideas to spice up your quick keto waffles and easy low carb pancakes:

  • You can add your favorite low carb and keto chocolate to the mix to create chocolate chip pancakes! See our favorite low carb and keto chocolate options in our article on the best keto friendly chocolate options on the market!
  • Add your favorite berries and some whipped cream using Kalona’s heavy whipping cream and stevia
  • If possible, use a good quality oil like our favorite Chosen Avocado Oil (sold in bulk at Costco) in the mix to minimize your polyunsaturated fat intake.
  • For the keto syrup, luckily there are many delicious sugar-free maple syrups on the market. We love and prefer Smuckers Sugar-Free Breakfast Syrup. It tastes exactly like regular pancake syrup. we’ve tried many other brands and this is the best we have come across.
    • Uses Splenda (sorbitol) as its sugar substitute.
      • 1g net carb per 1/4 cup

Top Easy Keto Pancakes (& Easy Keto Waffles)!

#1  Good Dee’s Low Carb Pancake Mix

These are hands-down our favorite keto pancakes for several reasons, the biggest of which is texture. Keto bread, muffins, pancakes and waffles tend to have eggy textures. This is due to the lack of glutinous ingredients in most of the recipes. Eggs are great in omelets or crepes but in pancakes, it makes them less fluffy.

Good Dee’s Pancakes are nice and fluffy, however! That’s likely because it’s not an instant mix but rather is one where you bring your ingredients. We believe the fluffiness comes from the ratio of eggs to almond flour and added heavy cream (rather than cream cheese) and butter. Just mix together a few ingredients and you have yourself some easy low carb pancakes and keto waffles!

  • 1g net carbs per 1/4 cup of pancake/waffle batter
  • Ingredients: Almond Flour, erythritol, baking powder, salt, stevia.

#2  Pure Traditions Pancake and Waffle Mix

The Pure Traditions brand makes a great mix for Paleo Waffles and pancakes. Like all of our products on this list, their Pancake Mix can be used for super easy keto waffles or pancakes.

  • Ingredients: Almond meal, pecan meal, organic flaxseed meal, organic coconut, organic coconut flour, cinnamon, baking soda (aluminum free), cream of tartar (aluminum free)

#3  KNOW Foods Pancake Mix

Know Better Foods knows how to make bread. We actually think their bread is a little on the thicker side, almost like banana bread. That serves well in their Know Better Pancake Mix, as you get a nice texture that holds together very well. There’s a bit of baking powder here so you really do get more of a bread-like texture.

A quick note about allulose. You may notice that there are 8g net carbs if you utilize the normal total carbohydrate – dietary fiber – sugar alcohols formula. However, like certain Quest Cereal Bars, allulose is not counted against the net carbohydrate count because it does not impact your blood sugar levels.

There hasn’t been as much evidence out on this but we have personally not noticed any impacts to our ketone levels when consuming allulose.

  • 2g Net Carbs (6g allulose) per 1/3 cup of Pancake/Waffle Batter
  • Ingredients: Almonds, Allulose, Dried Egg Whites, Flax Seeds, Organic Prebiotic Powder, Organic Coconut Flour, Chia Seeds, Baking Powder, Organic Sea Salt, Organic Flax Flour

Julian Bakery makes a ton of low carb and keto-friendly products. Their Paleo Pancake & Waffle mix is an instant mix, meaning you just have to add water. This gives it a leg up in the convenience department. They do have a nice bread-like texture to them and have flavor from the added vanilla, stevia and cinnamon.

The knock on these is it is a little higher in net carbohydrates but they are easy to make and should still keep you in the keto zone.

  • 6g net carbs per 1/4 cup of pancake and waffle mix
  • Ingredients: Almond Flour, Dried Egg Whites, Vanilla Extract (Pure & Unsweetened), Potassium Bicarbonate, Stevia, Cinnamon, and Sea Salt.

#5 Birch Benders Paleo Pancake & Waffle Mix

You’ll notice that the Birch Benders Paleo Pancake & Waffle Mix are very similar to the Julian Bakery mix from above. They are Paleo and just-add-water but the ingredients result in a slightly different texture.

The main ingredient is cassava flour, which is normally used as a binding agent, so you do get a less grainy texture here for sure. They stay together very well but the coconut and almond flour mix creates a less fluffy texture. We usually add a little more water than the recipe calls for and they make really great mini dollar keto pancakes.

Also, as the main ingredient, cassava flour is higher on the glycemic index scale, so they are for the less strict carb counters. They definitely are convenient though and we’ve found these in local stores like Sprouts.

  • 5.5g net carbs per 4-inch pancake/waffle
  • Ingredients: Cassava Flour, Organic Coconut Flour, Almond Flour, Eggs, Leavening(Monocalcium Phosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate), Salt, Monk Fruit, Spice.
